Product Description
Kukicha
Kukicha is a type of green tea made from the tea stems. After the initial processing of tea leaves (aracha), they are then filtered, separating thee tea leaves from stems and small broken leaf bits (konacha or mecha).
By collecting these sorted stems, kukicha is made. The stems themselves have a much sweeter taste than regular sencha as the stem contains more natural sugar.
Although kukicha is known as a reasonably priced tea as it is a derivative of sencha, but stems collected from gyokuro is called karigane or shiraore and are regarded as high quality kukicha. Kukicha is less astringent and bitter compared to other types of tea.
