Kukicha (stem tea) made from the stems of Ureshino gyokuro.
Kukicha is a type of green tea made from the twigs or stems of tea plant. During the final processing of aracha, the stems are filtered, and these sorted stems are made into kukicha. Although kukicha is known as a reasonably priced tea, stems collected from high quality sencha or gyokuro are called karigane or shiraore and are known as quality kukicha. Kukicha is less astringent and bitter compared to other types of tea.
